Oil, Climate, and Money

Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 07:30 PM
In the long run, fossil fuels are a dead end.  We need to invest in a new, climate-neutral energy future.  But which future?  A pioneer in reporting stories stories from far-flung places, Andrew Revkin has spent a quarter of a century covering the troubled relationship of science and politics.

He conceived and helped create a three-part Times series and award-winning one-hour documentary last year on the transforming Arctic. He also recently exposed efforts by political appointees to rewrite government climate reports in the White House and prevent NASA scientists from conveying their views on global warming.  His recent reporting bridges the interface between energy, climate and money.

All lectures are held at 7:30pm in the First Congregational Church, 1126 SW Park Ave., Portland. Doors open at 6:30pm.  (Map)
